Yakeba is delighted to inform you all that it has been selected as a winner of the Red Ribbon Award 2008. The Technical Review Committee has deemed the action and leadership of Yakeba exceptional in terms of sustainability and adaptability, impact, innovation, empowerment, involvement of PLHIV and strategic partnerships. The public announcement of the 25 winning organizations will be made during the UN General Assembly Special Session on HIV/AIDS (UNGASS) on June 11, 2008 in Geneva. 

As part of an International Conference on HIV/AIDS to be held in Mexico City, Yakeba will be a guest of honour at the Red Ribbon Award Dinner and Ceremony held on August 6 and attended by government officials, heads of international funding agencies, and eminent persons in the AIDS world.

Yakeba will also co-host and co-anchor a Community Dialogue Space, the "Community Tequio", in the heart of the Global Village at the conference. This space will be designed to share stories of success and challenges, foster exchanges with local and global leaders, and inform policy-makers in the recognition of community initiatives on AIDS.
